Austin Lyric Opera Beer & Wine Smackdown

Austin Lyric Opera General Director Kevin Patterson, a microbrewer, and Kevin Leahy, a local wine enthusiast, will compete to see who is better at pairing their preferred beverage with various foods provided by local restaurants. Their pairings will be judged by local celebrities/food critics. Attendees can judge for themselves as they taste the 5 food, wine and beer combinations. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Austin Lyric Opera and the Armstrong Community Music School.

Announcing Austin Restaurant Week brought to you by Matt Swinney and Rare Magazine!

Matt Swinney, the Publisher of Rare Magazine and the organizer of Austin Restaurant Week will be joining us at our September meeting. I wanted to give you guys a preview of what he's going to talk about.

Austin Restaurant Week is a culinary dream. Diners can have 3-course
prix fixe dinners at over 50 of Austin's finest restaurants (final
list will be published on September 1) for either $25 or $35 (doesn't
include alcohol, tax or gratuity). This city-wide event will attract
thousands of locals and visitors to Austin alike. Several hotel
restaurants are included on the list of participants. The event will
take place October 12-15 and 19-22. The second portion of the event is
during Austin Film Festival, so the city will be hopping!

This is a perfect opportunity to give our guests a chance to dine at
some of the city's great local establishments at a discounted rate
with special menus. Please give your support to the participating establishments
and help make Austin Restaurant Week a huge success!

Again, Matt will be at our meeting in September to discuss Austin
Restaurant Week and how we can best serve the event in addition to
what he can do to ensure we have everything we need to book each
restaurant with ease.

Here's the inside scoop before the info goes public!

Your reward for registering on the Austin Restaurant Week website means you get this fun little email that gives you a 3 day head start making those Restaurant Week reservations!

Remember, each participating restaurant is offering a 3-course prix fixe dinner (appetizer, entree, dessert) for either $25 or $35 per person. Austin Restaurant Week is October 12-15 and 19-22.

We FULLY expect every restaurant to be packed every night during ARW, so take advantage of your head start and book all eight nights before the masses get to see this exact same list on Tuesday, September 2!

AUSTIN, Texas — ART on 5th, the largest contemporary art gallery in Austin, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in April with its second sale ever. ART on 5th sprung onto the Austin art scene in 1998 after owner Joe Sigel realized the need for a contemporary art gallery in a city already so well known for its dedication to the arts.
