Officers


Steven Leigh

President

Steven Leigh started his career in San Antonio, TX as an Operator at La Mansion del Norte Hotel, after a brief 3 months of answering phones he was asked to fill a vacated Concierge position. He enjoyed his concierge position for 2 years, learning all he could about the hospitality industry and customer service. In 1991, after a brief stint as a flight attendant, Steven rediscovered his true calling and went to work for a small 4 star, 4 diamond boutique hotel in Virginia. He continued his career working with luxury and boutique hotels throughout the mid-Atlantic coast until 2000, when he decided to move back to Texas to be closer to family. He currently works at the Omni Austin downtown hotel as Chief Concierge. Steven has been in the customer service industry almost 23 years, and his future plans include living and retiring to Costa Rica.

Marissa Stewart

Secretary

Marissa Stewart started working in hospitality two years ago at the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel and has found the profession to be enjoyable, rewarding, and challenging. Recently she was offered the position of Front Desk Supervisor, a role she is growing into with the professional insight and assistance of the Austin Concierge and Guest Services Association. As a new member of the ACGSA Board she hopes to use what she has learned from her hospitality experience to benefit thehospitality industry in Austin as whole and the members of hospitality community.

Alex Barajas

Vice-President/Treasurer

Alex Barajas has worked in the Austin hospitality industry for almost ten years. Part of the opening staff for the InterContinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel in 2000, he worked up from Front Desk Agent to Guest Relations Manager in those first eighteen months. In 2004, he left Austin for a brief period of time, then returned later that year as an Assistant Front Office Manager at the Omni Austin Hotel at Southpark. In 2007, the Stephen F. Austin offered an opportunity to return as the Chef Concierge, and he happily returned to downtown Austin. Alex has been a member of the Austin Concierge and Guest Services Association for several years, and is excited to continue with the development as part of the 2009 Officers Committee.

Danielle Burgess

Sgt-in-Arms

Danielle originally hails from Palm Springs, California but since she started working for the Hyatt she has been lucky enough to travel around the country. She has been with the Hyatt for almost 4 years now and has had the chance to live in several amazing cities including Denver, Boston and now Austin! For the past year she has been the Guest Services Manager at the Hyatt Regency Austin and has fallen in love with the city. Brand new to the city she joined the ACGSA a year ago to network and learn about all that Austin has to offer. The experiences and the relationships that the ACGSA have provided have been invaluable and she hopes to continue to develop these as a member of the ACGSA board in 2010.
